New School Building - Consultation

Welcome to the consultation webpage showcasing the redevelopment proposals for The Salesian Academy of St. John Bosco.

Introduction

The Salesian Academy of St. John Bosco, in partnership with the Department for Education and BAM Construction are consulting on our redevelopment plans for the school campus.

As part of the growing Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust, the Salesian Academy of St. John Bosco will become the number one school of choice in the local area. We want to provide an environment for all pupils in which they will be able to develop their many talents, pursue their academic and personal excellence, remain healthy and safe and, ultimately, make positive contributions to society.

The Proposals

The school are looking to take forward plans to redevelop the existing school campus to provide a new modern school building and supporting facilities.

A comprehensive redevelopment of the school site is planned, incorporating the replacement of all the existing buildings with a new single school building. The redevelopment would be phased to allow for the school to remain open using the existing buildings whilst construction of the replacement school building is undertaken.

Access to the school for pupils and visitors would remain being provided from Netherton Way. The school will retain its existing pupil capacity, operating as a four-form entry school.

It is intended that a planning application for the redevelopment proposals will be submitted to Sefton Council following the consultation period. Subject to receiving planning permission, it is intended that work on the new school building would begin in late 2024, with the new building available for use in Summer 2026. The project is planned to finish in 2027 following the final phase of works to complete supporting external areas and new areas for sports pitches.

Consultation Event
