Homework, Revision & Support

Reading

Your child should read for at least 30 minutes each evening. They should read a book which is the appropriate level for them. Novels are excellent for engagement but fact based books also offer a lot in terms of expanding vocabulary. A selection of appropriate books for 11-16 year olds can be found here.

Sparx Maths

At our school, we use Sparx Maths to support pupils’ learning at home. Sparx provides personalised online homework that helps pupils build confidence, improve fluency and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics through regular practice. Parents can support their child by encouraging them to complete their weekly homework and use the independent learning section to revise for upcoming assessments. Website: https://sparxmaths.com/

Essays

Your child should put a lot of effort into their essays. If they spend an hour planning, writing and editing, it will be a far better essay than having spent 15 minutes.
